About Us

Kongregate was founded in 2006 as a web gaming destination with the vision of creating an open platform for indie games to foster that growing community.

Today we are focused on our mobile games division which has seen great success since its inception in 2013. With over 250 million mobile downloads and billions of gameplays worldwide, we support an active and engaged community of passionate gamers. Our breakout titles include AdVenture Capitalist, Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards, Peter Molyneux’ The Trail, and Idle Frontier and include multiple “Editors’ Choice” awards.

As the games industry has changed and grown over the years, so have we, but we have always maintained our core values of integrity, collaboration, and most of all, fun!

  • Markus Lipp CEO, CFO

    Avid surfer, golfer and outdoors enthusiast, German born but California transplant Markus specializes in financial wizardry. During his time at Kongregate he has built the finance department from the ground up and led the organization to success by investing early in blockchain technology, implementing a scale and stack acquisition strategy, and reinvesting in our company leadership. When not in the office, Professor Lipp teaches at Stanford University, creating the next generation of finance leaders.

  • Michelle Shaw Chief Blockchain Operations Officer

    A California native, Michelle grew up on a small farm outside of Sacramento, raising cows, pigs, and even learning how to country line dance - though she’ll never admit it. Today, she’s jumping into the buzzword-heavy Blockchain world to jump start Kongregate’s effort to bring fun to NFT games. In her spare time, she’s getting back to her farm roots with a growing collection of backyard chickens & dog pack (Gizmo, Oreo, and Joe Bob).

  • Max MurphyChief Technology Officer

    Based out of Portland Oregon, Max Murphy is Kongregate's resident web3 sorcerer and is leading the charge from the tech side into the wild world of blockchain gaming. His favorite Kongreg-ant-ian memory is when the Portland studio boarded a train to Seattle to enjoy a Mariner's game together and proceeded to debate the perfect chip the entirety of the ride. The debate rages on but the top contenders remain Juanita's chilipeño and Tim's jalapeño kettle chips. In his free time, Max is an avid snowboarder, skateboard collector, and screen printing wizard.

  • Patrick MoranChief Product Officer

    Patrick Moran believes we are living in the golden age of gaming, and with his 2+ years at Kongregate and 20+ years in gaming, his passion for building and leading teams led to his promotion to Chief Product Officer. He loves fitness, strategy and RPG games, writing music, producing and directing films, and Survivor. He’s applied to the show 27 times! As CPO, Patrick leads strategic direction and execution for Kongregate’s mobile games first-party business.
